Where should I start?

Run local development, then use deployment to provision your account and verify the product flows. To add your own functionality, follow the feature recipe.

Why isn't everything hidden behind one config file?

You edit the files that own the behavior: bindings in wrangler.jsonc, validated values in env.config.ts, auth and billing in src/config/, and copy in messages/. Start with environment configuration.

What is the difference between env.config.ts and Cloudflare bindings?

The root schema validates secrets and public build values. The env export from cloudflare:workers exposes bindings such as DB, UPLOADS, and QUEUE. See environment variables and Wrangler.

.dev.vars is present and my secrets look empty. What happened?

Wrangler prefers .dev.vars for Worker secrets, while Vite loads public build values separately. Follow local secret precedence.

Why does local dev ask for a Cloudflare API token?

AI and Flagship are remote services. Their proxy needs account access, and a startup failure can block the app. See remote binding troubleshooting.

Can I use Node.js packages on Workers?

Many APIs work with nodejs_compat, including a virtual filesystem. Check the package's actual runtime needs against Worker compatibility; durable disk and a long-running Node process are different requirements.

How do I migrate D1?

Apply local changes with pnpm db:migrate --local; deploy applies remote migrations before uploading the Worker. db:setup also seeds local data, and db:generate overwrites src/db/schema/auth.ts. Start with database migrations and schema changes.

How do I inspect local D1 data and uploads?

With pnpm dev running, use Cloudflare Local Explorer and SQL Studio to browse D1 tables, run queries, and inspect local R2 objects and KV values.

Does Edge Kit include organizations?

Accounts and Stripe references belong to individual users. Organizations, invitations, team roles, and team billing do not ship. See authentication and billing scope.

Does hiding anonymous sign-in disable it?

The public flag hides the UI. The server's anonymous plugin remains enabled unless you change its configuration, and anonymous sessions pass the shared auth guard. See auth method controls.

Will server code end up in the browser bundle?

Keep binding and database access in server modules, then call it through a server function or HTTP handler. Loaders can also run in the browser. Follow server functions and security.

Why does lint reject a string in JSX?

User-facing copy uses generated Paraglide messages. Add the key to both catalogs and regenerate, as shown in translations.

Can I drop Edge Kit into an existing Next.js app?

Edge is a separate TanStack Start app with Vite and Cloudflare bindings. Create it with the CLI. You can adapt individual patterns to another project, but moving the whole app requires a framework migration.

Can I use another React package?

Check its React version, SSR behavior, bundle size, and Worker runtime dependencies. Browser-only assumptions and unsupported server APIs can require changes. See the tech stack and runtime troubleshooting.
